Olongapo City opens select businesses on Saturday
OLONGAPO CITY –– Olongapo businesses and offices will resume operations on Saturday (May 16) as the city shifts to a general community quarantine (GCQ), Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said.
Vending schedules at the Olongapo City Public Market, the West Bajac Bajac Public Market, and the James L. Gordon Market and Mall would still be in effect and would be closed on Saturdays and Sundays, according to transition guidelines that would be enforced until May 31.
Malls and other shopping centers will be allowed to open but leisure establishments shall remain closed. Takeout or delivery services for restaurants will also be allowed.
To facilitate movement, workers of establishments that were allowed to open must secure a work pass from their respective barangays.

The curfew will still be imposed from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m on Mondays to Fridays, and from 2 p.m to 5 p.m on Saturdays. Sundays are reserved for city-wide disinfection.
Under GCQ, residents are still required to wear face masks in public areas. “The City will still implement a ‘no face mask – no labas (going out) policy,” the mayor said.
“Everyone in Olongapo must cooperate and resist the urge to go out of their homes unnecessarily. It is only with the collective discipline and effort of everyone that we can effectively deal with the crisis,” Paulino said.
