DOH: 2,245 healthcare workers in PH infected with COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — The total number of healthcare workers infected with coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 has risen to 2,245 as of May 14, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Friday.

In an online briefing, DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire also said that of the latest tally 1,431 affected health workers are labeled as “active” while 35 have already died. She, however, noted 42 new recoveries, boosting the count of recovered health workers to 779.

According to Vergeire, the number of new COVID-19 cases among healthcare workers is continuously decreasing.

DOH also enumerated the top five medical professions with confirmed COVID-19 cases:

FEATURED STORIES

Nurse – 812

Physician – 660

Nursing Assistant – 137

Medical Technologist – 81

Radiologic Technologist – 42

Meanwhile, DOH said 260 non-medical staff were so far likewise stricken with the severe respiratory illness caused by the novel coronavirus or SARS-CoV-2.
