Camarines Norte COVID-19 patient dies after testing negative in 2nd swab

LEGAZPI CITY – Camarines Norte’s first coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patient, who tested negative on Thursday after his second swab, died early Friday, the provincial spokesperson said.

Bicol#61, a 45-year-old man from Labo town, died at 1:54 a.m. due to kidney failure and stroke, Don Culvera, Camarines Norte spokesperson and COVID-19 incident commander, told the Inquirer.

Culvera said the patient died at Labo District Hospital.

On Thursday evening, the Department of Health (DOH) in Bicol reported that the patient tested negative in his second polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.

COVID-19-related deaths were earlier recorded in Naga City in Camarines Sur; and Legazpi City, Tabaco City, and Guinobatan town in Albay.

As of this writing, Bicol has a total number of 66 COVID-19 patients. Fifty-three of the cases were in Albay, 10 in Camarines Sur, and one each in Camarines Norte, Sorsogon, and Catanduanes.
