With 28 accredited COVID-19 testing laboratories, the government said it was optimistic it could resolve a backlog of 7,000 new coronavirus tests in the next two weeks, said Bases Conversion and Development Authority president Vivencio Dizon.

With more accredited laboratories, Dizon said the country had increased its daily testing capacity from 5,000 on May 2 to 8,700 on May 10.

Dizon said over 10,000 overseas Filipino workers had been processed for swabbing in the government’s megaswabbing centers last week. —JULIE M. AURELIO
