94% of Caloocan police force undergo testing
A police investigator without any symptoms has been found positive for the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) after 94 percent of the 966-man Caloocan City police force underwent swab testing.
According to Caloocan police chief Police Col. Dario Menor, the policeman’s test results came out eight days after he was tested on May 5.
“We have to separate the coronavirus-positive patient even if he is asymptomatic. The nature of our job is that we communicate with different types of people daily, and we may be silent carriers [of the virus] without even knowing it,” he said.
Menor added that they were coordinating with the city health office so that the policeman could be accommodated at the designated quarantine facility for COVID-19 patients.
Despite the findings, however, the city’s police personnel could not be quarantined as well as their work would be affected, including helping out in the distribution of cash assistance from the national government and securing the houses of COVID-19 confirmed cases.
