MANILA, Philippines — A criminal case will be filed against the public school teacher who offered P50-million to anyone who can kill President Rodrigo Duterte, the head of the National Prosecution Service (NPS) said Thursday.
Prosecutor General Benedicto Malcontento said Ronnel Mas will be charged with inciting to sedition in relation to Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
“The actual filing [of the case] will be next week before a court in Zambales,” he said.
While waiting for the case to be filed and heard in court, Mas will remain in the custody of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
The 25-year old Mas from Santa Cruz, Zambales, was arrested by the NBI-Dagupan District Office on Monday after he made this post on Twitter: “I will give 50 Million reward kung sino makakapatay kay Duterte #NotoABSCBNShutDown.”
On the way to Manila, the NBI videotaped Mas admitting his offense and apologizing to Duterte.
