8 land in jail over P19-M shabu in Caloocan City

MANILA, Philippines — Eight people were detained while P19 million worth of crystal meth or shabu were seized in Caloocan City on Wednesday night.

A report from National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), which was made public on Thursday, identified the suspects as Arthur Salguero, 49; Rose Cruz, 31; Herchill Resco; Jhon Dale Estoninos;  William Tante Jr., 39; Joshua De Andres, 24; Albert Delema, 27; and Ricky Nelson Cruz, 57.

Police said Salquero and Cruz are both on the Northern Police District’s (NPD) drugs watchlist.

The suspects were arrested after selling shabu to an undercover police officer during a buy-bust operation by officers of the NPD Drug Enforcement Unit and Detective Special Operations Unit at a subdivision in Barangay 168, Zone 15, District 1 in Deparo, Caloocan City at 7:30 p.m.

Seized were meth worth P19,040,000, two rolled aluminum foil, weighing scale, shoebox, three cellphones used for the drug deal, P5,000 worth of cash and P45,000 worth of boodle money.

The drug sting was hatched after policemen obtained information from a previous buy-bust operation on Monday, May 11, where policemen arrested four suspects and confiscated 70 grams of shabu in Barangay 8, Zone 2 in Caloocan City.

The suspects were brought to the Caloocan police station. Complaints for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 200 were being prepared.
