Kapamilya stars delighted over House bill granting ABS-CBN provisional authority

MANILA, Philippines — Some of the biggest names of the Kapamilya network on Wednesday expressed delight to the House of Representatives for approving a bill that would grant  ABS-CBN a provisional authority until the end of October 2020.

Angel Locsin, in an Instagram post, thanked House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano and to the lower chamber of Congress “ for giving us a fair chance in court without shutting us down.”

“Praying that the outcome will favor the Filipino people and enabling us to help during this crisis,” Locsin added.

Cayetano is among the lawmakers who authored House Bill No. 6732 or  “An Act Granting the ABS-CBN Corporation A Franchise to Construct, Install, Operate and Maintain Radio and Television Broadcasting Stations in the Philippines, and For Other Purposes”, which was approved by the House on second reading.

Currently, ABS-CBN, the country’s largest network, is off the air in compliance with National Telecommunications Commission’s (NTC) cease and desist order after its legislative franchise expired on May 4.

Veteran actress Sylvia Sanchez was also elated with the news regarding the House bill, as well as “Magandang Buhay” host Karla Estrada.

On Twitter, Bianca Gonzalez expressed her thanks to House leaders while sharing photos of the bill.

And comedian Vice Ganda said that the House bill was a “big help” for the network.

“But please let’s not stop praying for the best to happen. This is just start of the process,” Vice added in a subsequent tweet.
