MANILA, Philippines — Personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) will man a quarantine facility for suspected and probable COVID-19 patients south of Metro Manila.
In a statement Wednesday, the Department of Health (DOH) said the 108-bed isolation site in The Filinvest Tent in Alabang, Muntinlupa City will start operations next week.
Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, with National Task Force Against COVID-19 Chief Implementer Carlito Galvez Jr., led the inauguration of the new quarantine site.
“We thank the Filinvest group of companies that has provided this temporary quarantine facility. This will help the national government ramp up our health system as we endeavor to manage the number of cases and eventually flatten the curve,” Duque said.
The Filinvest Tent was among the large-scale venues identified by the government to be used as isolation sites for the treatment and health monitoring of COVID-19 patients.
The DOH on Wednesday reported 145 new COVID-19 recoveries, a record-high increase posted in a single day, bringing the total of recoveries to 2,251.
Meanwhile, the confirmed coronavirus cases nationwide rose to 11,618 as the death toll now stands at 772.
