MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police will be intensifying security around the Senate where the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona will be held on Monday, its spokesman said on Friday.

Aside from the 42 personnel to be deployed in the area by the Police Security and Protection Group, Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr., said that they would also have on standby the National Capital Region Police Office’s Civil Disturbance Management on standby.

Additional traffic enforcers will also be assigned near the Senate to assist motorists, he said.
