One dead in Antipolo fire

MANILA, Philippines — Authorities are looking into what could have caused the fire which razed a house at a village in Antipolo City Thursday night, killing one person.

Senior Superintendent Manuel Cesar Prieto, Rizal provincial police chief, identified the lone fatality as Rogelio Montesclaro, 28, who was inside his home at Block 10, Lot 18, along Piety Street at Logcom Village in Barangay Dela Paz when fire struck at around 9:55 p.m.

The fire was put out at around 10:30 p.m. after it reached first alarm.

Case investigator Senior Fire Officer 1 Ernesto San Diego of the Antipolo City Fire Department on Friday however said they could not determine the cause, saying that investigation is underway.
