As for the Science Garden in Quezon City, Pagasa said it recorded a 41°C heat index around 3 p.m.
The heat index is defined as a “human discomfort index that gives the ‘apparent’ temperature or what humans perceive or feel as the temperature affecting their body,” explained Pagasa.
“Dangerous” levels of heat index range between 41°C and 54°C, according to Pagasa, since these degrees pose health risks like heat cramps and heat exhaustion, even possibly heatstroke, with continued physical activity.
