LEGAZPI CITY, Albay, Philippines — A 46-year-old man from Tabon-Tabon village in Daraga town is the latest to contract the coronavirus in Bicol as the region’s tally rises to 62 on Monday evening.
Tagged as Bicol#62, the new case was a close contact of a nurse who has also tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on May 6.
Albay Provincial Health Office chief Dr. Antonio Ludovice said that since May 5, the patient has been confined at the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH), where his wife was also confined.
The patient first had fever on April 25, Albay’s top doctor said.
Prior to this, two other cases were recorded by the Department of Health (DOH) in Bicol, including the second case of COVID-19 in Tigaon town in Camarines Sur and a case in Labo town, Camarines Norte’s first coronavirus patient.
