Tuguegarao lifts COVID-19 ban on alcoholic drinks, motorcycle passengers

TUGUEGARAO CITY – The ban on sale of alcoholic drinks was lifted here last week as part of the city’s transition to general community quarantine (GCQ).

The executive order issued on May 8 by Mayor Jefferson Soriano also allowed motorcycle riders to carry a passenger, which was prohibited on March 17 due to social distancing protocols when the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) was imposed.

A 24-hour curfew still prevails, and motorcycle riders can take passengers who are required to go to work, and who have been certified by the village government as a relative, Soriano said.

Selected businesses, offices and mass transport vehicles were allowed to operate, under tight restrictions to ensure social distancing is maintained in public and at the work places.
