WATCH: Bike lanes pop up in Pasig City
MANILA, Philippines — After declaring biking as an essential mode of transportation amid the coronavirus lockdown, the Pasig City government is now starting to create bike lanes and extending the sidewalks in some areas in the city.
Pasig City residents can expect road works starting Sunday, May 10, 2020, in the following areas:
-Market Avenue
Pasig Mega Market Area
-Caruncho Avenue
Around the City Hall Complex
-Amang Rodriguez Avenue
East Bank to Marcos Highway
The Pasig City Transportation Department earlier declared biking as an essential mode of transportation in the city through Executive Order 18 series of 2020, allowing bicycle shops and businesses primarily engaged in the repair and maintenance of bicycles to operate amid the lockdown.
Departments of the Pasig City government were also ordered to identify locations of key repair shops and to upgrade the city’s bicycle lanes.
