Quezon COVID-19 watch: 1 new confirmed case; 5 recoveries

LUCENA CITY, Philippines – A new confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patient has been recorded in Quezon four hours after health authorities reported that no new virus carriers have been recorded in the province for the past six days.

In its noontime report Sunday (May 10), the Quezon Public Information Office (QPIO), citing the latest report from the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO), traced the latest COVID-19 patient to Buenavista town, the first recorded case in the said municipality which is located in the Bondoc Peninsula district.

With the addition of the new patient, Quezon now has 73 recorded coronavirus carriers. The patient from Buenavista was the latest recorded case since May 5.

The QPIO report also showed that five more confirmed COVID-19 patients have recovered, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 38.

Three of the latest recovered patients are from Lucena City and one each from Unisan and Atimonan towns.

With the reported recovery of 38 patients and the death of seven others, the number of active COVID-19 carriers in the province is down to 28. They are all confined in undisclosed hospitals.

Quezon has 1,295 suspected coronavirus carriers and 32 of them have died, according to the QPIO.

At least 88 suspected carriers are confined in different hospitals and 166 are still under home isolation. A total of 1,009 suspected virus carriers have already been discharged from hospitals or completed home quarantine.

The QPIO also recorded three “probable” patients – one confined in an undisclosed hospital and the other two already completed home quarantine.

Quezon, which is considered as high risk or “red” province, is under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) until May 15.
