MANILA, Philippines — The low-pressure area off Davao City has developed into a tropical depression Sunday afternoon. It is now locally named “Ambo,” the first tropical cyclone to hit the country this year.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said a weather bulletin will be posted at 5 p.m.
As of 11 a.m., Ambo was spotted 635 kilometers east of Davao City.
It was expected to bring scattered light to moderate with occasional heavy rains over the regions of Caraga, Davao, and Soccskargen.
