All set for Phoenix Run

THE Sacred Heart School-Hijas de Jesus Parents Association (SHS-HDJ PA) will be hosting its first-ever fun run dubbed “The Phoenix Run” on Jan. 29 at Ayala Center-Cebu.

The run, held in cooperation of the SHS-HDJ Student Council and the SHS-HDJ Foundation, is expected to attract 3,000 runners as students from pre-school to fourth-year high school will be joining the footrace that will have 1K, 3K, 5K and 10K categories. The race will also have a special category—the 100m and 200m dash for pre-schoolers.

The school’s faculty and staff as well as the students’ families and the sisters from the Hijas community are also expected to grace the affair.

Highlighting the race is the the launching of the school’s mascot named the Phoenix. Known for its legendary myth rising from its own ashes every 500 years, the Phoenix was chosen by the school as its mascot as it symbolizes the centennial celebration of the school’s Mother Foundress, St. Candida Maria de Jesus and her congregration’s missionary work.

Non-SHS-HDJ students are also encouraged to join. Registration fee is pegged at P300 inclusive of singlet and race bib.
