A 45-YEAR-OLD man was arrested for allegedly mauling his former wife in barangay Looc, San Remigio town, northern Cebu.
Fidel Dela Cerna is facing a string of charges after two packs of suspected shabu were recovered from his possession. The man was also accused of kicking one of the arresting officers.
The arrest stemmed from the complaint of the man’s former wife.
The woman told police that she decided to leave her husband for physically abusing her. The couple’s marriage was annulled last June 2011.
The woman told police Dela Cerna had been harassing her after the annulment of their marriage.
Last Wednesday afternoon, police said he went to the woman’s house where they had a confrontation.
The woman told police that she was punched twice in the stomach during the confrontation.
The woman reported the incident to the police.
SPO1 Wilfredo Bonado of the San Remigio police said that during the arrest, two sachets believed to contain shabu were found in the back pocket of Dela Cerna’s pants.
Police said the man denied that he was a drug user but did not reveal where he got the drugs.
Police said Dela Cerna resisted arrest and kicked the right foot of Senior Insp. Jose Rovic Villarin, chief of the San Remigio police.
Police said charges of violence against women and children, possession of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia, resistance to person in authority and direct assault will be filed against the man./CORRESPONDENT RHEA RUTH V. ROSELL
