PNP turns over P230M for virus response

National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr. and the Philippine National Police (PNP) have turned over nearly P230 million in cash from their personnel to aid government efforts in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement on Thursday, Esperon said 182 officials and personnel of the National Security Council chipped in to donate P500,000 cash to help contain the virus.

The sum was turned over to the Office of Civil Defense. —JEANNETTE I. ANDRADE
