ILOILO CITY—The Iloilo City government has appealed for an extension until May 14 of the deadline to distribute cash dole outs for residents who lost sources of income to stay-at-home orders as P350 million still needed to be paid out.
At a press conference on Thursday, Mayor Jerry Treñas said the payout to beneficiaries, who had not received their cash, would be done at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand instead of per village.
Treñas said beneficiaries will be exempted from the curfew to allow the distribution to continue at night.
The city government will also provide transportation to bring beneficiaries to the grandstand and back to their villages.
“We will make sure that social distancing measures will be observed,” the mayor said.
Treñas said the city government needed to distribute at least P50 million per day starting on Friday (May 8) to meet the extended deadline.
On Thursday, distribution of cash dole out was conducted for beneficiaries of 13 villages in separate gymnasiums.
