27 UPLB students to go home to Albay

LEGAZPI CITY –– Twenty-seven students from Albay studying at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) in Laguna, who were stranded at the campus due to the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), are expected to arrive on Thursday night, the Albay Inter-Agency Task Force said.

The Albay provincial government, in cooperation with Ako Bicol (AKB) Partylist, agreed to fetch these students trapped at the UPLB campus since March 15 after the government imposed the ECQ to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease in Luzon.

AKB Rep. Elizaldy Co said on Thursday that the partylist has commissioned a bus to bring these students back to Albay.

He said that before they left for Albay on Thursday, the UPLB scholars have secured their respective health certificates and documents from the health authorities in Laguna, so they could be allowed to pass the various ECQ checkpoints in the Quezon and Bicol borders.

Co said the scholars also assured the local IATF that upon arriving in Albay, they would undergo the required medical check-up and the 14-day mandatory quarantine in Bicol University’s College of Agriculture in Guinobatan town.
