ECHAGUE, Isabela – Wednesday (May 6) has been logged as Isabela’s hottest day of the year, when the temperature rose to 40 degrees Celsius and an uncomfortable heat index of 41-degrees before noon, according to the weather bureau’s Echague station.

The province’s hottest day on record is May 22, 2015 when the mercury soared to 42 degrees, according to Ramil Tuppil, Echague weather specialist.

Residents, who are riding out a lockdown, were told to stay indoors during peak hours of the day because the searing heat was high enough to trigger heatstroke.
