LIGAO CITY –– As extended enhanced community quarantine was still observed in Albay province due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Department of Trade and Industry and the city government of Ligao have set up rolling stores in the province.

Bhem Berango, information officer of DTI, said the objective of the “Diskwento Caravan” project, which was initiated by DTI Albay, was to “ease the burden of consumers during this difficult time by providing them easy access to basic goods at reduced prices.”

She said the mobile caravan would visit Albay towns to keep the residents from going to the market.

Ligao City Mayor Patricia Gonzalez-Alsua, through the city agriculture office, also sells and delivers fresh vegetables directly to the houses of residents in different villages.

“Assorted high-value crops/fresh vegetables produced by members of Masaraga Organic Farmers Association in Amtic village is sold at a very low price and to keep them healthy during the quarantine period,” Dexter Mendoza, city agriculturist said.

Vegetables like lettuce, cabbage, squash, upo, tomatoes, winged beans, and more were being sold at P9 to P35.
