Cascolan: PNP to begin adjudication of second batch of ‘narco cops’

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday said it will start the adjudication of cases for the second batch of police personnel allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade.

“The RDs (Regional Directors) and DIRs (Directors) directed to start their adjudication for the NAB (National Adjudication Board) to adjudicate by the third week or 4th week of May. We should finish it by the first week of June,” Lt. Gen. Camilo Cascolan, PNP Deputy Chief for Administration, said in a text message to reporters.

Cascolan revealed that 352 rogue police officers will undergo the adjudication process. Of the 352, 83 are listed in the National Watchlist on Illegal Drugs while 249 are listed in the Counter Intel Watchlist.

Adjudication an administrative process where cases of accused police officers are heard by the PNP’s adjudication boards.

Cascolan, meanwhile, said the results of the validation and adjudication for the first batch, which included 357 policemen, was already submitted to PNP chief Gen. Archie Gamboa, who will then send the final recommendations to President Rodrigo Duterte for action.

Duterte has the final decision on the status of police personnel who are involved in illegal drugs.
