PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan, Philippines – The Department of Health in the Mimaropa region reported on Tuesday that four suspected coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients had died in Palawan, bringing the total number of deaths in the province to 25.
One of those who died was a woman, about 33 to 39 years old, from an urban village in the city. She had bronchial asthma, Richard Ligad, Puerto Princesa information, said in a video announcement aired live on Facebook.
Another fatality was a man, aged 21 to 25, who had a known medical comorbidity, or another ailment other than COVID-19; and still another was a man, aged 64 to 68, who had an unspecified chronic disease. Both patients died on May 3.
The three patients, all from Puerto Princesa, were swabbed for confirmatory tests, with pending results.
No available data has been provided yet on the fourth casualty.
On Monday, the DOH also reported that there were three probable COVID-19 patients who also died in the province. Details on the three have not yet been provided.
As of 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Palawan had a total of 69 suspected COVID-19 patients, 27 of whom were admitted in various hospitals while 42 remained under strict home quarantine, as of 3 p.m.
