MANILA, Philippines—Some parts of Luzon have experienced rainfall in recent days, partly because of the cloud seeding operations conducted by the Philippine Air Force (PAF).
The operations are meant to fight drought and to boost food security.
Facebook posts from the PAF’s 900th Air Force Weather Group (AFWG) indicated that it had carried out cloud seeding operations in recent days, mostly in Palawan, Bulacan and Metro Manila.
On Sunday (May 3), for instance, it conducted cloud seeding operations in Palawan, bringing light to moderate rains over Tagpangi to Naplang Ridge.
Cloud seeding missions have taken place in other parts of Palawan in previous days.
The 900th AFWG said it had embarked on cloud seeding in cooperation with the Palawan Water District “to help increase water level to support domestic usage.”
Cloud seeding operations were also staged over Angat Dam, La Mesa Dam and other portions of Metro Manila in a bid to support the government’s Plant, Plant, Plant Program as part of the Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19 program for food security.
