A 10-year-old boy already battling cancer has finally beaten COVID-19 weeks after he tested positive for the coronavirus.
Riley Duckworth, from Arkansas, United States, who has leukemia, was diagnosed with COVID-19 on April 14, as per NBC-affiliate KNWA on April 17.
Following his diagnosis, his life-saving chemotherapy treatments were put on hold. Riley was then quarantined at Arkansas Children’s Northwest Hospital with his father, Jeremy.
Weeks after another test, Riley finally registered negative for the coronavirus. In light of his recovery, the 10-year-old also returned home for a while before coming back to the hospital to resume his chemotherapy on April 28, the news outlet reported last Friday, May 1.
His mother, Michelle, is now staying with him in the medical center for the duration of his rehabilitation.
“We thought we were going to be in here seven days, but now we’re going to be in here for like a month or so,” she was quoted as saying.
Once Riley is discharged from the hospital, he plans to go camping and visit Disneyland with the help of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Ryan Arcadio/JB
