256 ECQ violators nabbed as Tondo District 1 hard lockdown ends
MANILA, Philippines — Manila police officers arrested 256 violators of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Tondo District 1 as the district’s hard lockdown ended on Tuesday.
The Manila Police District Public Information Office also reported that policemen rescued 25 minors during the 48-hour lockdown and were brought to barangay officials.
Tondo District 1 was placed under hard lockdown from Sunday (May 3) at 5 a.m. to Tuesday (May 5) at 5 a.m. due to increasing COVID-19 cases in the district.
During the lockdown, the government conducted mass testing to isolate and treat individuals positive for novel coronavirus, which causes COVID-19.
As of Monday night, Manila has 770 coronavirus disease cases including 114 recoveries and 73 deaths.
