LUCENA CITY — A new COVID-19 case was recorded but it was balanced by a new case of recovery in Quezon province.
In a report released at noon on Tuesday (May 5), the Quezon provincial information office (QPIO) said the new COVID-19 case was from the town of Lopez.
It brought the infection tally to 69.
But another patient had recovered, bringing the tally of recoveries to 20.
Deducting fatalities and recoveries from the infection tally, the total number of coronavirus carriers in the province is now just 42.
There was a spike, though, in the number of suspected COVID-19 cases from 1,045 last Monday (May 4) to 1,161 on Tuesday.
At least two probable cases are on the list, too.
Lucena City, the provincial capitol, remained on top of the list with 29 COVID-19 cases. Ten patients had recovered, which were deducted from 29 and reduced the number of cases to 19.
At least 26 other towns in the province are coronavirus-free.
Quezon, considered as a high-risk area, would remain on a lockdown until May 15.
