MANILA, Philippines — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Tuesday said it received 2,000 complaints against local officials for violating protocols of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
“Ngayon, nakatanggap ako ng mga reklamo sa office ko. More or less nasa 2,000 (I have receive more or less at 2,000 complaints),” DILG Undersecretary for Barangay Affairs Martin Diño said in a dzBB interview.
“Lumobo nung distribution natin ng social amelioration program, ang dami ngayon (The number of complaints ballooned during the SAP cash assistance distribution),” he added.
Meanwhile, Diño reiterated that social distancing is one of the problems in the distribution of government aid for poor families affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
“Ang nagiging problema sa distribution, nagkakaproblema sa social distancing. Itong social distancing yan ang kalaban ni coronavirus,” he said.
(The problem with distribution is social distancing. Social distancing will repel COVID-19.)
The interior department has so far issued show cause orders against five mayors and 100 barangay captains for allegedly failing to follow lockdown rules.
