MANILA, Philippines — There are nearly 9,400 students stranded in dormitories and schools nationwide, according to President Rodrigo Duterte’s sixth report to Congress, which was released on Monday.

Citing information from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), the report says that 9,367 students nationwide are stranded in their dormitories and schools while 1,229 students and personnel overseas are in need of repatriation.

The report, which was based on an online survey, added 142 of those overseas had been repatriated and 45 stranded students in Boracay had returned to Metro Manila.

The stranded students from Boracay were flown home on a sweeper flight organized by the Department of Tourism (DOT).
