Duterte to address public Monday night
MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte is expected to deliver an address to the nation on Monday night, Malacañang said.
“The President will address the people around 11:30 p.m. tonight,” presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in a message to reporters.
However, it was not specified what the President’s address will be about.
The President’s address comes shortly after the start of an extension until May 15 of an enhanced community quarantine in Metro Manila and provinces with a high-risk of the coronavirus transmission.
Areas with low-risk for COVID-19 were, meanwhile, placed under a general community quarantine with fewer restrictions.
As of Monday, there are 9,485 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 623 fatalities and 1,315 recoveries.
