MANILA, Philippines — A total of 204 violators were arrested so far by the police for violating the hard lockdown rules imposed in Tondo District 1 in the City of Manila, Brig. Gen. Rolando Miranda, Manila Police District director, said Monday
The hard lockdown in Tondo District 1 started at 5 a.m. Sunday and will end at 5 a.m. Tuesday.
“Kung ikukumpara sa almost 800,000 population ng Tondo District 1 ay napakaliit ng porsyento ng nag-violate (If compared to the almost 800,000 residents in Tondo District 1, the number of violators is just a small percentage),” Miranda said in an interview on dzMM.
Miranda said violators were brought to temporary holding facilities.
“Nagpapadala po tayo doon ng doktor na titingin sa kalusugan nila at ng piskal na magkukumpleto sa kaso na isasampa natin sa kanila (Doctors were sent to check their medical condition, as well as fiscals to to attend to cases to be filed against them),” he added.
Arrested minors and persons with disability were escorted back to their residences, according to Miranda.
Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso earlier said the hard lockdown was imposed in the entire Tondo District 1 due to increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the area and continuous quarantine violation of its residents.
Mass testing for the coronavirus disease is also being conducted during the lockdown.
