COVID-19 cases in PNP surpass 100

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) recorded seven more policemen who were infected with the coronavirus disease as the total number of COVID-19 cases in the police force surpassed the 100 mark.

As of Saturday, PNP Health Service chief Police Brig. Gen. Herminio Tadeo Jr. said the number of cases in the nation’s police force increased to 105.

Here are the seven new cases from the PNP:

Tadeo said four more police officers survived the respiratory ailment, increasing the total number of recoveries to 17.

Meanwhile, the number of fatalities due to COVID-19 stood at three.

PNP also documented 326 police personnel as probable and 685 police as suspects.

The Philippine health department defined suspects as those with COVID-19 symptoms but were not yet tested for the novel coronavirus or SARS-CoV-2, which causes the respiratory disease. Probable, meanwhile, are persons under investigation but with pending laboratory results.
