Data privacy guaranteed for COVID-19 patients

/ 05:14 AM May 01, 2020

The National Privacy Commission and the Department of Health have warned against publicly disclosing the personal information of possible or confirmed COVID-19 patients after the data of some 150 patients were recently breached.

The unauthorized disclosure of patients’ personal data “has been proven to cause a real risk of severe harm to patients,” their statement said, adding the data privacy rights are guaranteed patients who may face stigma for their situation. —Roy Stephen C. Canivel
