Cebu’s top designers, artists in Sinulog finale
ON STAGE in the Sinulog finale this Sunday, expect to see accolades to Cebu’s top designers in fashion, furniture and visual art.
This year’s theme takes off from Cebu’s latest title as “Asean City of Culture”.
In the 25-minute finale, Rep. Rachel del Mar will also dance as the Sinulog queen, her second time to perform the role.
She will appear in the final segment in a modern Filipiniana gown with a Sto. Niño in her hand, said choreographer Victor Cuenco.
The Cebu City Council yesterday approved a P2.5- million budget for the production number.
The stage in the Cebu City Sports Center will have a backdrop of images of the facade of important establishments, which helped Cebu City carve its name as a city, said Cuenco.
Article continues after this advertisementSegments of the finale will feature works of Cebuano designers Cary Santiago, Monique Lhuillier, Philip Rodriguez as well as furniture designer Kenneth Cobonpue.
Article continues after this advertisementAnother segment will recognize visual artists like painters Martiniano Abellana and Romulo Galicano, and other local talents who excelled in music and dance.
Following Sinulog tradition, the event will be capped by a 10-minute pyrotechnics show, which signals the end of the Sinulog festival. Chief of Reporters Doris Bongcac
