MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine Military Academy (PMA) would start receiving applications from aspiring military officers on May 1.
In a statement, the PMA, the country’s premier military school, said cadet online application is on the PMA’s official website, www.pma.ph.
“Successful applicants will have a life-changing and noble journey,” the PMA statement said.
Aside from the privilege of serving the country, the PMA said being accepted in the military school meant free college education “with a well-rounded curriculum.”
Studying at the PMA also comes with monthly salary and allowance, a guaranteed job after graduation and a “progressive career” as an officer of either the Army, Navy or Air Force.
Successful applicants will be part of PMA Class of 2025.
Applicants need to have these qualifications:
- Natural-born Filipino
- Physical fitness and good moral character
- Single, never married or pregnant and not supporting any child or children
- High school graduate with a general average grade of at least 85 percent
- At least 5 feet in height
- No administrative or criminal case
- At least 17 but not older than 22 years old on April 1, 2020
- Pass the PMA entrance exams
Applicants must fill out application forms and attach copies of birth certificates from the Philippine Statistics Authority, transcript of school records, ID photos in white background taken in the last six months.
The entrance exams are set on Aug. 30, 2020 in 44 sites nationwide. It would cover Algebra and Geometry, Grammar and Composition, Reading and Comprehension, Verbal and Numerical Reasoning and Pattern Analysis.
Applicants are also required to pass physical examination which would be administered by the AFP Medical Center, the PMA statement said.
Medical disqualifications include color blindness, any communicable disease, physical deformities, scoliosis, tattoos and other medical conditions determined by the appropriate AFP Medical Board.
Applicants should also pass the physical fitness exams which include a 3.2-kilometer run, pushups, situps, pullups (for male applicants) and flex-arm hang (for female applicants).
