LEGAZPI CITY—Police said two members of New People’s Army (NPA) were killed on Thursday (April 30) in a clash with policemen in Monreal, a town in Masbate province.
Maj. Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson, said police were serving a warrant of arrest at the village of McArthur past 5 a.m. when they clashed with at least 15 NPA guerillas.
The subject of the arrest was not identified and it wasn’t clear if NPA tried to stop it.
Calubaquib said two rebels were killed in the gunfight. The rebels’ bodies, two Carbines and an M-16 assault rifle were recovered, she said.
The slain rebels’ identities are not yet known.
