Van in Binay convoy hit by pickup in NYC
MANILA, Philippines—A mini van that was part of Vice President Jejomar Binay’s convoy in New York City on Sunday figured in a minor traffic mishap, the Office of the Vice President reported.
In a statement, the OVP said “no one was injured.”
Binay, who is on an official trip, “was in another car behind the mini van that was bumped by a pickup.” The accident happened at around 8:30 a.m., East Coast time, or 8:30 p.m. in Manila.
The Vice President, also the government’s housing czar and presidential adviser on overseas Filipino workers’ concerns, left Manila Friday night.
Binay, along with officials of agencies attached to the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council, which he chairs, will attend a housing finance program at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School on June 6-16.
The Vice President also attended the Philippine Independence Day parade in New York City the other day.
