An investigation is ongoing  to determine the motive of the attack and identify the killers.

Youth group League for Filipino Students (LFS) denounced the murder of Porquia during the coronavirus disease outbreak.

“The League of Filipino Students strongly condemns the killing of Jory Porquia! Fascists attacks continue while we’re in the middle of a pandemic. In this regime, those who genuinely help the poor and needy are threatened, harassed, and worst, killed,” read the statement posted on its official Facebook page.
