MANILA, Philippines — Iloilo City will be under general community quarantine (GCQ) starting May 1, Malacañang said Wednesday.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said Iloilo City will be excluded from the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) to be imposed over the entire Iloilo province.

“Iaanunsyo ko po na ayon sa listahan, Iloilo province lang po ang nasa ECQ at ang Iloilo City ay hindi na po nasa ECQ,” Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in an interview over Unang Hirit.

Earlier, the entire Iloilo province was among the areas under ECQ starting May 1 alongside Metro Manila, Central Luzon (except Aurora province), Calabarzon, Pangasinan, Benguet including Baguio City, Cebu including Cebu City, and Davao City.

Capiz, Aklan, Davao del Norte, and Davao de Oro, meanwhile, were classified as GCQ areas.

Areas other than those mentioned will also be placed under GCQ, Roque earlier said.

Hardware stores, clothing and accessory shops, and other non-leisure establishments will be allowed to operate in areas covered by the GCQ provided that “minimum health standards” will be observed.
