3 inmates on COVID-19 quarantine bolt Albay jail

LEGAZPI CITY—Three inmates bolted the district jail in the town of Polangui, Albay province on Tuesday (April 28) as they were isolated from the rest of the prisoners for COVID-19 quarantine.

Capt. Dexter Panganiban, Albay police information officer, said the inmates—Joseph Francisco, Noelito Otto and Richard Marabe—escaped by jumping over the fence of the jail, being run by the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) at the village of Basud.

Francisco and Otto were charged with theft while Marabe was arrested for illegal drugs this April.

Panganiban said the three were supposed to be on quarantine outside their cells.

The BJMP could offer P10,000 in reward for the capture of each of the fugitive, said Panganiban.
