More commandos deployed; ECQ violations drop
MANILA, Philippines — The Joint Task Force coronavirus disease (JTF Covid) shield on Sunday observed a sharp reduction in the number of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) violators following the deployment of police commandos and military personnel in Metro Manila.
JTF Covid shield commander Police Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said the number of ECQ violators was reduced by nearly half after fully armed police special action forces and military men were deployed to so-called “hotspots” in Metro Manila.
These “hotspots” include Blumentritt in Manila; Libertad in Pasay City; Pasig Palengke; Napindan and Lower Bicutan in Taguig City; Public Market of Las Piñas City; North Caloocan; Alabang Public Market; Bagong Paranaque Public Market; and the Marikina Public Market.
