No job fairs on Labor Day due to lockdown
MANILA, Philippines — There will be no job fairs on Labor Day due to the ongoing enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), according to the Department of Labor and Employment.
The holding of jobs and livelihood fairs has always been among the highlights of the department’s annual Labor Day celebration where thousands of jobs, both local and overseas, are made available to jobseekers.
But this year’s celebration will be different, said Labor Assistant Secretary Dominique Tutay.
“We cannot hold job fairs during the extended ECQ … So we won’t be having job fairs on May 1,” Tutay said. The ongoing ECQ prohibits mass gatherings.
