Additional 30 patients recover from COVID-19 as PH cases rise to 7,294

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines has 102 new coronavirus infections, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Saturday, increasing to 7,294 the number of individuals in the country positive for SARS-CoV-2

DOH also said 17 more people died due to COVID-19, the respiratory illness caused by the new virus, and that the Philippines’ death toll is now at 494.

Meanwhile, DOH said it documented an additional 30 patients who recovered from the potentially-fatal ailment, boosting the country’s total count of recoveries to 792.

COVID-19 has been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization. It was first detected in Wuhan City, Hubei province in China in late 2019. As of April 25, the virus has infected more than 2.8 million people and killed nearly 200,000, as over 800,000 managed to recover worldwide.
