LUCENA CITY –– Health authorities in Quezon province on Friday recorded 270 suspected coronavirus disease (COVID-19) carriers.
The Quezon Public Information Office (QPIO), citing a report from the Integrated Provincial Health Office on Friday, revealed that the number of suspected virus carriers jumped to 270 from Friday’s 234. The QPIO did not provide other details.
A person is considered “suspected” COVID-19 carrier if he/she suffers from fever, cough, or sore throat two weeks after contact with a confirmed case, or had visited a place with local transmission of the coronavirus.
Those who exhibit the same symptoms and belong to the vulnerable populations, such as the elderly, those with preexisting ailments, pregnant women, and health-care workers also belong to this group.
The QPIO report also recorded one case “probable” to have COVID-19. A patient becomes a “probable” case if the lab test results are inconclusive or have yet to be released.
The recorded COVID-19 cases in Quezon rose to 53.
With the reported recovery, cleared and discharge of six patients, and the death of seven others, the number of active COVID-19 patients in the province is down to 40.
