Port operators, lessees get 30-day reprieve from PPA

/ 04:10 AM April 25, 2020

Lessees and port operators with contracts with the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) will enjoy a 30-day reprieve in the payment of rental and concession fees during the lockdown period in Mega Manila.

In a memorandum circular signed on Thursday, PPA general manager Jay Santiago granted a 30-day grace period for all its lessees and port operators without interests, penalties and other charges thereof.

This was in accordance with the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act encouraging private and government entities to help people tide over the consequences of a nationwide quarantine caused by the new coronavirus disease pandemic.

“This measure is not expected to affect our revenue generation, however, as it merely delays the payment by 30 days,” Santiago explained. —Krixia Subingsubing
