Mall ops in GCQ: List of services allowed to open

MANILA, Philippines — Limited mall operations will be allowed in areas placed under general community quarantine, Malacañang said Friday.

In an online press conference, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said only the following will be allowed to open once the GCQ takes effect on May 1:

-Supermarkets

-Drugstores

-Banks

-Laundry service

-Restaurants for takeout and delivery only

Those who are 21 to 59 years old will be allowed to enter the malls provided that they present an ID, Roque said.

Temperature check, wearing of face masks and usage of alcohol will also be mandatory.

“Ililimita po ang numero ng tao sa loob ng mall (The number of people inside the mall will be limited),” Roque added.

To prevent people from loitering inside malls, Roque said air conditioning must be set at 26 degrees while free wifi must be removed.

“Tapos ang mall operations po, kinakailangan yung mga mall operators ay magbigay ng mask and gloves sa kanilang mga empleyado,” Roque added.

(Regarding mall operations, mall operators must provide masks and gloves to their employees.)

President Rodrigo Duterte extended the enhanced community quarantine in Metro Manila, Region 3, Calabarzon and other high-risk areas.

At the same time, a general community quarantine was placed in areas listed as low-risk for the coronavirus, which has so far infected 6,981 persons nationwide.
