LIGAO CITY –– Three testing booths to be used for swabbing of patients believed infected by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) will soon be put to use at the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH) in Legazpi City.

“We made a customized COVID-19 booth so that it would not cost much in purchasing Protective Personal Equipment (PPE). Instead of constantly replacing the PPEs for each health worker, we will just disinfect the booth,” Ako Bicol (AKB) Partylist Rep. Alfredo Garbin said.

The booths will be delivered on Friday and will immediately be used for mass testing.

“Conducting a swab test while the health worker is inside the booth is safer but [there is] still a need to observe the proper protocol for protection,” Dr. Rogelio Rivera, BRTTH chief, said.

Aside from the COVID-19 testing booth, AKB has also constructed a temporary quarantine facility at BRTTH, and donated P10 million worth of PPEs and other medical equipment to Sorsogon, Masbate, Catanduanes, and other provinces in the country, AKB Rep. Elizaldy Co said.
